    How to clean your products
The instructions below are HomeCenter.com suggestions. It is highly recommended that you follow your manufacturer’s recommendations to ensure proper cleaning of your product.

How to clean acrylic shower bases
Acrylic shower bases have a high gloss impact resistant surface. The are designed to retain the high gloss luster with proper care and maintenance. Do not use abrasive cleaners on the acrylic surface. Mix a bucket of warm water with a mild liquid soap. This should be efficient for most cleanings. Tile cleaners and strong detergents should not be used. Any type of house holds cleaners that would normally be used to clean stubborn stains should not be used on your shower based. By following the above guidelines, you will maintain the natural beauty of the shower base.

    How to clean brass
Un-lacquered brass tarnishes when exposed to air. New pieces are usually lacquered. If lacquer wears off in spots through use, have a professional re-lacquer it. It can be done at home, but all old lacquer must be removed first & the surface completely clean (no fingerprints or cleaner on it) before spraying the lacquer on evenly.

How to clean cast iron sinks and tubs
Cast iron has a high gloss finish which like vitreous china adds to the beauty of the fixture. Strong abrasive cleaners will scratch and dull the surface. Soft abrasive cleaners may be used to clean these products. Use a soft cloth to wipe the surface dry after every use. Use a soft nylon brush on stubborn stains, which may appear on the bottom of the tub. Do not use and hard bristle brushes, Brillo type products, or steel wool to clean these surfaces. Do not leaves dirty dishes, pots, or any staining material in direct contact with the enamel finish. Long periods of contact may result in staining of the surface.

    How to clean chrome
Clean with soapy water. Rinse & wipe dry with a paper towel to restore luster. Use an old toothbrush to get deposits of dirt out from under edges of faucet.

    How to clean copper
Most pieces of decorative, modern copper are protected by a factory-applied, baked-on lacquer. Only dusting & an occasional washing w/ lukewarm, soapy water are needed to keep lacquered objects shiny. Never polish them. Lacquer must be removed from eating & cooking utensils before using. To remove lacquer, place the item in 2 gallons of boiling water to which 1 cup of washing soda has been added. The lacquer will peel off. An alternate method to remove lacquer is to rub w/ a cloth saturated with acetone or alcohol.

    How to clean faucets
Different faucet materials require different cleaning methods. Do not, under any circumstances, use scouring agents, abrasive sponges, hydrochloric acid, i.e. so-called lime-scale removers, vinegar (acetic acid)-based cleaners, ammonia or metal silicates. Such cleaners are likely to damage the finish. You can prevent lime deposits from forming by always wiping your faucets dry immediately after use. The best way to clean your faucets is to wipe them with a wet, soapy cloth, rinse off and wipe dry. There are cleaning agents available that are designed specifically for the type of finish you have on your fixture.

Lime scale is a build up of alkaline residue from the water in your area. All you need to do to clean it up is reduce the alkalinity with an acid such as neat vinegar or lemon juice. Your faucets will amaze you when you rub them clean with half a lemon.

Windex is not recommended for cleaning your faucets. When you are cleaning you mirrors do not spray the faucet. Windex contains harmful chemicals that eventually destroy the finish of your faucet.

How to clean fiberglass sinks & tubs
Use nonabrasive cleaners. Apply all cleaners w/ a sponge or nonabrasive applicator made of nylon, polyester, or polyethylene. Rub gently. Always rinse thoroughly to remove all cleaner. Never use any abrasive cleaner like common scouring powders, nor any abrasive scouring pads, steel wool & paper or scrapers.

    How to clean garbage disposers
Garbage disposers clean themselves if used properly. Do not put lye or other chemical drain pipe cleaners into the garbage disposer. Periodically & always after disposing of fibrous food waste, purge the drain line by filling the sink w/ two or three inches of cold water. Turn on the garbage disposer & allow this water to run through w/ no waste added. Before going away from home for several days, make sure all waste have been flushed out of the garbage disposer to avoid creating odors. If odors should occur through an oversight, they can be removed by running orange, lemon peels or ice cubes through the garbage disposer.

    How to clean mirrors
It is not recommended that you use cleaners that contain ammonia, bleach or any other chemical that may damage these finishes. Proper care and maintenance is essential to prevent any unwanted damage. Use a mixture of soap and water to clean these surfaces. Use a soft cloth to wipe the surface dry after every use. Use stainless steel cleaners to clean stainless steel. Use a non-abrasive cloth when cleaning. Always work with the grain.

    How to clean plastic surfaces
Showers and Baths, Toilet Seats, Sinks
Wipe out bath or shower after each use w/ soft cloth or squeegee. Use only a mild detergent (such as dishwashing soap). Do not use abrasive cleaners. Avoid detergents, disinfectants or cleaning products in aerosol cans.

    Toilet Seats
Be sure to wipe off any cleaner spill, especially from bumpers & hinges of seats. An application of no-wax polish can restore the toilet seat's gloss & luster. Pine-based cleaners are not recommended.

How to clean porcelain enamel bathroom fixtures
Wash in sudsy water, dry with a soft cloth. Bathroom fixtures can be cleaned in a solution of 1-tablespoon detergent to 1-gallon hot water or w/ a foam bathroom cleaner. Avoid using household cleaners, which contain abrasives. Bathroom fixtures should be disinfected weekly w/ a solution of chlorine bleach & water or a spray-on disinfectant or by using a disinfectant cleaning foam.

How to clean porcelain enamel kitchen fixtures
Wash in sudsy water. If necessary use a plastic scouring pad or wooden scraper to remove burnt-on food. Burnt-on food may be loosened by soaking in a solution of 2 teaspoons baking soda & 1 quart water. Avoid abrasive scouring powder or steel wool. For heavy baked-on grease, or spills, occasional use of a fine steel wool pad or scraping w/ a razor blade is ok; just be very careful not to scratch the enamel. Using abrasives, such as steel wool or abrasive powders tends to permanently scratch the smooth glassy surface & make it harder to clean thereafter. Lime deposit in teakettles may be removed by a solution of vinegar & water. Bring to a boil.

Rust stains can be removed by using commercial rust remover or by using a solution of 1-tablespoon oxalic acid crystals (poison), dissolved in 1/2 cup warm water. Apply to stain, allow to stand a few minutes, then rinse well.

    How to clean shower doorframes
It is not recommended that you use cleaners that contain ammonia, bleach or any other chemical that may damage these finishes. Proper care and maintenance is essential to prevent any unwanted damage. Use a mixture of soap and water to clean these surfaces. Use a soft cloth to wipe the surface dry after every use. Use stainless steel cleaners to clean stainless steel. Use a non-abrasive cloth when cleaning. Always work with the grain.

    How to clean shower doors
Do not use bristle brushes or abrasive sponges. They will scratch decorated surfaces. Never use abrasive cleaners. Gold used on decorative products is like fine jewelry. Use only warm water to clean. Dry with a soft cloth. Do not let cleaners sit & soak on surfaces. Use a shower squeegee to clean the glass doors after showering. Rinse & wipe fixtures after cleaning to prevent soap buildup. On delicate surfaces use plenty of water, rub gently, rinse.

    How to clean silver
Methods of cleaning silver should be determined by the valued placed on it--monetary or sentimental & the design of the pattern. Silver w/ deeply "carved" patterns that are enhanced by an oxide or French gray finish should be hand polished w/ a high quality silver cream or polish. Hand rubbing develops patina on silver, which adds to its beauty. Ornamental silver pieces that have been lacquered may be washed in lukewarm water; hot water could remove the lacquer.

How to clean stainless steel sinks
Should a mineral deposit build up over time, use a weak solution of vinegar and water to remove the deposit, followed by flushing the surface with water. To clean your sink, use the mildest cleaning procedure that will do the job effectively. On the mirror finish deck we recommend using either a liquid detergent or Peek. with a soft cloth. DO NOT USE ANY ABRASIVE MATERIALS ON THE MIRROR FINISH. Inside the sink bowl we recommend using a mild abrasive cleanser such as Old Dutch, Comet or Cameo.

Always rinse the sink after using a cleaning agent, and wipe the sink dry to discourage any water spotting. Any cleaning or scrubbing to remove stubborn stains from the inside of the sink bowls, should follow the direction of the grain line. Any scrubbing across the grain will show as a scratch. Scrubbing in the same direction as the grain will blend in any surface scratches.

Vitreous china has a high gloss finish, which adds to the beauty of the fixture. Strong abrasive cleaners will scratch and dull the surface. Soft abrasive cleaners may be used to clean these products. Use a soft cloth to wipe the surface dry after every use. Warm soapy water is always a safe way to clean any china surface. Use toilet bowl cleaners on the inside of the bowl only. Wipe off plastic or metal surfaces immediately if cleaning products splash on them.
